Journal lists the manual journal entries of the band or artist profile you are working in. You add entries as drafts, edit their lines, and approve them to post them to the ledger.
Open Journal
- In the side menu, under Accounting, select Journal.
The page is shown to a Financial admin or Admin, in a band and in an artist profile. Adding, editing, approving and deleting entries needs Finance & accounting (Band Gold, Artist Gold). On a plan without it the menu entry shows a diamond and an upgrade link. Entries created earlier stay available to view.
Desktop only
The journal uses a wide, multi-column layout. On a phone the page shows only the heading, the number of ledger entries and the message Open on a desktop to edit.
What the page contains
Each entry is a group of lines. The left side of an entry shows a checkbox, the entry number (for example J12), a status dot and the Date. The status is Draft or Approved. The toolbar above the list shows the number of ledger entries, or the number selected.

| Account | The account the line is booked to. Search the list by name or code. Accounts are grouped by type: Assets, Liabilities, Equity, Revenue, Cost of Goods Sold, Expenses and Other. |
| VAT rate | The VAT rate of the line, or No VAT. A tax treatment selector below the line sets the VAT category. |
| Debit, Credit | The amount, on one side only. Entering an amount in one column clears the other. |
| Balancing account | The account that takes the opposite side of the line. |
Only drafts can be edited. An approved entry is read-only. Changes to a draft save automatically.
Input and output VAT accounts are posted automatically. Choose an ordinary account and a VAT treatment instead.
Preview of the ledger effects
When you select draft entries, a bar at the bottom of the screen lists the accounts the selection would post to, in a debit column and a credit column, with Total debit, Total credit and Difference. The preview follows your edits before they are saved. A difference other than zero means the selection does not balance.
